Wet Fusebox?

Featured Replies

My dad's 2003 Focus has started doing a few odd things over the past couple of days - once when shutting the passenger door the rear wiper did one sweep (car not in reverse, front wipers not on), the front wipers single wipe sometimes only works while the stalk is held down (pushing it then releasing it makes them stop wherever they are) and the blower only works on number 4.

I know the blower issue is normally caused by the resistor pack failing, but with the two other problems that appeared at the same time, all the wet weather we have at the moment and the fact that he's found a bit of wet on some stuff he has in the boot I'm thinking it may be a short somewhere instead? Potentially one of the two fuseboxes? Anywhere else to look that may be causing these problems? We'll be investigating it tomorrow but any pointers will be appreciated!

likely the pollen seal under the scuttle or a blocked drain under the scuttle ide start there first as its the likely place

Cheers for the reply, we had a look behind the glovebox today and everything is bone dry in there (even the cobwebs!) so no water leak luckily. We've removed the resistor and ordered a new one now so hopefully that will sort out the blower problem (as a bonus it still works on number 4 with the entire resistor unit removed so we didn't even have to bother putting the old one back in).

It sounds like the wiper problem is a common one too and is caused by the relay failing. Dad isn't as fussed about fixing that though so it will probably just be left as is. And as for the rear wiper, well, that only happened once so who cares :D.
