The car has been leaking for some time, wet carpets on drivers side. I have removed the carpet an underlay and although I dont know how the water is getting in i have traced it up to the right of the accelerator pedal somewhere behind the dashboard. What should I be checking 1st to try and cure this problem?

Update

I have opened the bonnet and tipped water down the far left corner, it does flow away but also comes in the car. Whats the best way to get at this area to try and see where its coming in.
