LewisStephenson
I have a 99-00 ford focus Ghia saloon. The remote locking isn't working nor is the button on the dash. I have checked the voltage on the boot lock and constantly getting 12v. The boot unlocks with the key but the electronic buttons (fob & dash button) will not release it. When pressing either nothing mechanical moves. How does anyone recommend checking that it is the boot lock/catch mechanism is working/not working. Does anyone have diagrams? Thanks - Lewis
Stoney871
It will be the triggering wire from the central locking circuit. It's a common problem on a MK1, check the wiring in the rubber conduit at the roof and hatch. The insulation on the wires get brittle and allow water in and can also snap the copper core of the wire too. You should be able to locate broken wires quite easily. If you do need to replace the lock unit I have a guide under this messsge if you view it on a PC.
