What Mpg Should I Expect On A 2008 St?

Featured Replies

Hi my first posting on a forum (should be fun) I have just purchased an 08 facelift st always been a vauxhall person before from the cavalier to the insignia petrol and diesel but never felt I was right in the car, A friend of mine has a st and I always admired it from a distance so I thought sod it and brought one. God they are fast never ever thought I would own a car that goes that fast, but sadly the fuel gauge goes down just as quick.

I now am driving sensibly ( now most of the time) what mpg should i get , on motorways doing 70 ish and going around town?

any replies would be very grateful.

think you'd be doing well to get much more than 35mpg out of it on a long motorway run. Around town could drop to anywhere between 23-28mpg. But who cares...its an ST! Would love an ST one day...can get em for such reasonable prices these days too:-)

I'm gona say 12mpg.... Just so that whatever you're getting now seems better!

Understandably it will be bit thirsty at times but the Eco days can wait!

Lowest ive seen 19mpg heavy foot around low 20s around town and as said 35ish motorway with todays fuel prices its one of the main reasons they get sold on i dont class them as daily drivers to be honest more a fun car like all fast fords they arent cheap to run disks n pads arent cheap nor decent tyres but ide love one for a weekend car my mate bought a mazda rx8 for £3000 for a weekend car surprisingly fast as well

My old st used to average between 24 and 27 during different times of the year over a 50mile round trip everyday, I sold my st because of this and couldn't warrant paying all that money on fuel just to drive it to work. If ur worried about the mpg on an st then don't buy one.

Have to agree with Foci_st3 above, my mpg is about generally sits about 25 and can rise to 30ish if I drive like a nun. Think of the positives though, I'm on first name terms with all the ladies at the local garage and I get more than enough smiles per mile to offset the cost. :D

I also have a 2008 ST and I get 22-24 general mixed use. Best I've seen is 31-32 on a long motorway run.

It's not a car I would have purchased for fuel economy though! :P

Thanks for your replies, I didn't buy the car for the economy as I do about 30-40 miles a week some times less plus weekend trips.

I have just returned from a long weekend in Newcastle and om the motorway at 70 ish mph I was getting 33 mpg, my last car was a 2ltr diesel that was excellent on fuel but not as much as the st to drive.

Once again thank you for all the replies. :D

As above really.

I loved my ST but it was just too expensive to keep filling up. Best car I've ever owned but £70 a week to do 280 odd miles just wasn't going to cut it.

Definitely worth thinking about before you take the plunge.
