Mk7.5 Zetec S Grille

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I've checked all over the place but couldn't find any information. Does anyone know how to remove the grille from the 7.5 Zetec S?

I tried just pulling it but the whole bumper just flexed with it!

Or even this one ;)

Cheers for the links guys.

Willy, in your guide it doesn't show where the tabs lie in comparison to the grille. Like I said, when I pull the grill it just makes the bumper flex along with the grill itself which is annoying!

You need to remove the chrome part first to make it easier. Be aware that I broke mine when I pulled it off. You'll need to start in one of the corners and give it a good pull, the bumper will flex but it'll be hard to damage it.

When you get it off your hands will be sore ;) before you put your new grille in place take off the gloss black trim and then refit after the grill is in place. Hope that helps. Good luck and don't hesitate to give me a shout if you have any more questions.

I'm thinking about doing this once I get my car.

Do you think it would look okay on a Titanium without the dress up kit? It will have either 16" or the 17" alloys, though.

Willy, can you specify how the chrome surround is held in place? I will only be doing it if I'm able to without break anything. Might be a risky operation.

I pulled at one of the corners and the grille unclipped, from there a used a plastic tyre leaver to remove the chrome from the grille. I'm sure if your careful then the whole grille can be removed without breaking. I wasn't keeping the old grille so wasn't doing it carefully.

I've just popped to the car to see how the grille is put together but couldn't get it to unclip so as said before you need to give it a good, hard pull.

The chrome part is attached to the grille. It's just clipped around the grille. No glue / tape / screws etc.

As far as the looks I would probably only change the grille if I had the body kit to make it look more like the Zetec S

I used Inath's video for some tips on removing the grille. His video features a MK 7 fiesta but the fitting / removing are very similar

Cheers for the help man. Thing is, it's a zetec s I have, I don't have the chrome grille. I was just wanting it off so I can file a honeycomb edge away to allow space for my "S" badge I have. Do the think the gloss surround would be easier to take off first or just tugging the whole thing?

I got ya. OK instead of the chrome surround change everything I said to the black surround.

The Zetec S grille looks a bit stronger than the Chrome one so grab it in the right side by the edge and give it a sharp yank. Make sure your holding it near the area that's filled in towards the bottom of the grille.

If your worried about damaging the bumper then get someone to push against it while your pulling the grille.

Dont bother with the gloss black trim. Leave it on.

Perfect mate cheers!

I was scared of breaking the grille haha, it's far too nice to break.

You mean the guide in the guide section? ;) http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/42907-guide-2013-mk-75-facelift-fiesta-zetec-s-front-grill-install/

No, this is removal guide for mk7.5 "standard grille" and mount zetec s one. I want to remove zetec s grille so I could make small modification to it :-) Any toughts how to remove honeycomb grille? :-)

The removal and fitting are the same mate. If your worried about damaging it then I'd not bother trying to remove it.

The only thing I would like to know is where to start to pull, where are the mounting? Photo of the back of honeycomb grille would be enough to try for me :-)

If you read some of my post in this subject you'll find all your answers.

No pictures of the back though.

So as you said: strong pull is enough (but carefuly). I tought it would be "nicer" to try unlock the hooks? If its not possible, then I`m going to hard pulling... :D

Thanks.

It's not possible to get to the tabs without removing the front bumper. When your pulling at the grille it will feel like your about to break it but be confident and have someone to push against the bumper. Good luck.

I really suggest not removing the grill anymore, you are going to break it for sure, im a pretty handy guy but getting the grill out without removing the bumper i think you have a 99% chance of damaging it..

I think the grilles on these cars are designed to be fitted once.

I had Ford replace the standard grille on my Focus with a honeycombs one and I had asked to keep the old one. That came back with busted clips.

Unless you remove the entire front bumper I don't know of anyway of getting it off without damaging some clips.

Thats sad :(
