Odd Headlight Units - Mk2.5

Featured Replies

Evening,

Ive had the focus back from the accident repair place for a couple of weeks now.

Today I was replacing the headlights for some whiter bulbs and admiring my work I stood back and noticed that my car looked a bit wonky.

When the car was smashed into, they damaged the nearside headlight unit which has been replaced.....but this unit has a chrome panel above the sidelight, whereas my original offside light is black in the same place.

Was there two different versions of this headlight?

If so, anyone happen to be selling an offside unit with the chrome trim? :D

You need to go back to where the car was fixed.

They have bodged it.

Replacement lights should be matching or they haven't done the job right.

That was my first thought, but the chrome trim looks much nicer. If I could pick up a cheap unit I may consider buying one. Thats if they actually exist

I have just had to replace my headlights.

The black ones are original but have been discontinued due to " quality issues " and have been replaced with the chrome bezels.

The only option for you would be to replace the black one with a chrome one.

I got my lights form Ford Parts UK, think they cost £90 each.

Just had a quick look and they are both genuine ford parts. So checked on ford parts website and they have a chrome trim.

Must be a newer version. They are only 70 quid for the housing so I may buy the matching one.

But first I will chance my arm with the repair guys and see if they will make them match with genuine ford parts ;)

Cheers Brian.

Very helpful information. I want it matching so they need to sort it out, which will hopefully mean them replacing the other one aswell

i had the same problem. i had the old black trim.ford stopped these beacause of condensation in the headlights.so i had a dodgy light and they put a silver one on for me too but left the black trim one!. i kicked up a fuss and now have the silver trim ones. they look better and no condensation so far.
