Old 6000Cd Radio/ariel Issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

First time here so sorry if this is in the wrong place but just wanted to know ever since some pillock (mind the language) tried to steal my arial on my fiesta couldn't unscrew so snapped it. I've replaced the Ariel with a working one and not broken and now the radio does not work at all. Ariel port and wires are connected to the 6000cd player but still no difference.

Took it to a car specialist and they said they have to replace the whole Ariel system mombo jombo which I haven't got a clue for around £60/80. What an earth does he expect the guy needs to do?

Help please!

You need to check where the aerial fits to the roof from the inside. Not sure if you can access it from behind the interior light, but I suspect the connection may not be grounded properly. You may have to undo it, clean the area up and put it back together ensuring a good clean connection.

That's were I have to unscrew the areal behind the interior light connections are not loose there. I will post pictures soon to show you that everything looks fine.

So have you replaced the aerial base (The thing the aerial screws onto)?

Yup replaced the base as the car doesn't have a screw on aerial like other cars have, so I had to pry the interior door light open and unscrew the aerial to put a new one on.

The one you replaced it with was it brand new? The only thing i can think of if, if its a dab aerial would it work the same or not? If it was like for like them i dont see what changing the wiring would sort out, if the radio worked fine and now it doesn't what has changed, just someone trying to take the antenna, so it could just be either a dodgy connection in the base or the base and or antenna isn't working. Try putting some copper slip on the threads within the antenna and base and also the screw inside the interior light put some on there to it will help the connection.

Next thing is does the cd aux player work? If so then try changing the anew bits again and return those as they dont work, or if the cd n aux dont work then something else is wrong or fuse maybe. Hope it helps

the one i used was from another working ford fiesta from a local garage near mine and it worked on that car which puzzles me. I have bought another aerial base to se if that base was faulty. I've tried using an iPhone fm transmitter which i assume that being close to the aerial without any interference. still does not connect to the radio and makes the normal static.

Hae you tried the cd and the aux tho? As the radio receiver isn't working then, so try another base and antenna or check if any of the radio is working first

It does not have aux as it's the old cd6000 from a 2002 ford fiesta model but I'll try give another aerial base a try thanks for the help though :)

The IC for the radio tuner can also die on these models leaving you with no tuner, but aerial would be suspect. Also through the CD changer port AUX can be added. Mine has a full kit the gives iPod and bluetooth with iPhone control through the stereo so my phone is hid in the glovebox.
