A/c Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

The latest update I want to make to my Fiesta is to the a/c controls. I have a mk6.5 with the standard a/c controls and was wondering if I can upgrade to the auto climate ones?

Has anyone done it? Would it be a plug and play or would I need to add a bunch of sensors/ meters and looms to get it to work?

I've seen it in a few photos like this

So far I've had no luck finding the part and obviously I dont want to keep looking if it is an impossible upgrade

Cheers!

Hi,

In order to upgrade you will need a doner car and swap out the complete fan unit because climate control unit has electronic servos controling the vents inside instead of the existing cable driven manual setup,

Climate control will maintain a set temperature coming on and off at various speeds to maintain a set degree, so all controls need to be swapped out for the servo system

I know in order to do this on an E36 BMW 3 series you need to replace nearly everything, including the AC system. It must be an AUS only option also, never seen a Fez with auto climate control in England! But it would be a tricky and require a good amount of work, as it needs power also.

Aha, I see

So really it is more work than what it is worth, which is a shame.

No, its not an option here in AUS either! I have never seen it fitted, just in photos so assumed it was English becuase you love your Fiesta's over there. I'd be interested to know which market has it

That's even more odd seeing as one of them is an RHD car which is pretty rare in all the LHD nowadays. But it would be more hassle than it worth, especially since you could end up with no heat or AC. It would be better to get new knobs and do something else to the car. It's not impossible, but wouldn't be easy by any stretch.

And we do love Fez's and it's easy to see why!
