Sync And Long Text Messages?

How should sync handle long text messages, ie those more than 160 characters? I received one the other day and the sender simply showed up as '2', but on opening it only the first message content was shown. None of the buttons (including 'more') displayed the rest of it which seemed a bit odd. Not sure if this is a bug or to be expected?
