Playing Cds In The Zetec Head Unit

Featured Replies

A strange one this, but the car audio built into my Ecoboost 100ps 2013 Fiesta (not the Sony unit) displays home-burnt audio CDs as MP3. I know they're wav tracks but the firmware is obviously getting it wrong somewhere. Anyone else had this and had it corrected?

Not sure I understand what's happening, what problem does it cause?

No problem iNath, still sounds as good as a CD. It's just a software bug where the head-unit reads the files as MP3 rather than wav. Just odd, that's all.

I may sound stupid, but how do you know that's happening?

If you intentionally burn a CD-R with MP3 audio the head unit recognises this and displays 'MP3' on the screen. My point is that it displays MP3 when it's replaying a CD burnt with normal CD audio files. No big deal, just a software glitch.

What does it display if you play a real (purchased not downloaded) CD?

Its probably just to not confuse people, just simple mp3/aux/radio/cd. If they shown on the screen wav, aac, wma etc some peoples minds may explode.

If you play a pressed rather than a burnt CD the head display simply shows two concentric circles (the shape of a CD I suppose).
