Installing Aux Problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

Help would be very much appreciated.

I have just installed the ford part 1426121 so i can use my phone to play music through the stereo. Unfortunately since installing music only plays through the left speakers and the lyrics to the song dont come through correctly. I have tried 2 different audio jack leads (1 purchased today to make sure it wasnt the lead. Can someone please help? Ive looked through the internet and cannot find anything.

Thanks

Is the socket clipped together fully?

There's a bit of a design flaw with the aux socket whereby the front of the socket (where the jack cable butts up to) and the back of the socket (where the contacts are) can move.

They can be slightly out of alignment meaning that the jack plug can be either too far in or out and the contacts don't line up properly resulting in crossed circuits or no contact at all.

I'd recomment jiggling the two parts until they line up properly then taping them tightly together.

I have a diagram somewhere on how to seperate the aux parts so you can remove them and try refitting then without snapping anything.

I'll post it up shortly.

The pins need to be aligned correctly for left. right and ground.

if not they will cross over or not make contact at all (as per my little diagram here)-

To disassemble the socket to check pins and realign as necessary-

I have a similar problem if i plug my tablet to the auxiliary, but my phone works fine.
