Fuel Filter

Featured Replies

Alright people!

I have a problem with my Focus mk2 (1.8 TDCI LX KKDA03), i have the cog light with the exclaimation mark up on the dash (reduced to 3000rpm and basically no turbo), ive checked the piping leading to what i think is the turbo. and now i have air filter and fuel filter to change. my problem is thus: i can't find a haynes manual for my 55 plate! the engine bay is cramped and im not clued up on the layout of the engine bay so i don't actually know where i will find the fuel filter? can anyone upload a diagram i can print off or advise me where i can find it please?

also, if anyone knows where i can get a haynes, that would also be appreciated!

if you need any more info, just ask :)

thanks guys!

Have you got a scanner so you can see what codes are showing .it will also help to see what the fuel pressure is as the injectors will not open until it reaches about 4000 psi to restart after the filter has been changed.

Cheers for the scans Stead, very helpful. the fuel filter is where i thought it was! i was informed that i might need to prime the pump, but im assuming that with the syring method, i wont need to do this?

i don't have a scanner, thats on my shopping list, i have an iphone so probably not going to go with a bluetooth adapter!

thanks for the info, i may very well be back here after failing miserably to perform basic maintenance!

as steads has stated re-starting can be a bugga. careful with the white plastic clips on top of the housing these are fragile.... also you will need a spare o ring to re-place the one inside of the housing cap also, as the old one will be fooked.....

Fill the filter housing prior to reassemble with the filter already in place put the top back on then inject more fuel in you will either get it first time or struggle I'm afraid you can get a primer off eBay for £16 looking at on myself for next time .http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380756070544?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 .good luck

hey neil you dont need 1, make 1 from what you have around the house, thats what i did. i found a old funnel what i dont use any more and a piece of hose pipe, cut the funnel part off where it goes starts going narrow. jubilee clip oneside to the hosepipe then push the funel into feed pipe, suck on the hose once you have fuel connect it onto the top of the filter straight away. bang your done....... worked for me first time.....

I did have one made up with proper connections from a used motor but the primer bulb had a naf non return valve in it so was basically useless when I needed it will look for a better primer bulb for next time .

just a quick update on this!

cleaned the EGR Valve (coked up like a scarface!) and plugged my mates machine in and turns out i have a faulty glow plug control unit and thats keeping Limp mode on. got it booked into a garage for replacing!

Ill read through this thread later,

But your best off blanking the egr

And the exact haynes manual you require is:

4807 Ford Focus Diesel '05 to '09 (54 to 09 reg)

I bought mine on ebay few years ago

Blue mk2 pictured on the cover then a mk2.5 also shown inside the book
