Clutch Issues?

Featured Replies

I've got a 2001 1.6 Ghia. From the day I bought it, the clutch felt odd. There is very little travel on the pedal to be able to open the clutch and change gear, and when pulling away in first gear it judders. I am unable to move the car using just the clutch (such as manouvreing on level ground, crawling in traffic etc) which my old fiesta used to do brilliantly. I have a stack of service history from the old buyer dating back to 2002, and there is no mention of the clutch.

The fluid was green, so I bled the clutch with fresh fluid but it didn't make a difference. Is it time to change it? I don't fancy doing the job and to not reap the benefit by having the same issues. It doesn't slip for example if when im driving, i put it in any gear and "floor it" so to speak. Just the juddering in first, and not being able to move the car with only the clutch which raises my suspisions.

Any advice?

Sounds like it's time for a new clutch.

The pressure plate sounds like it's worn out.
