Central Locking

Featured Replies

I have a ford focus 1999 1.6 , my key fob was not working but my central locking was when I manually locked iit from the drivers door , so I unplugged the gem for over an hour when I plugged it back in my central locking has stopped working car won't lock all doors now from drivers door can anybody help ?

Try this:

Put the key in the ignition (all doors closed, if that matters), and turn it to pos 2 and off again - do this (I think) four times. Either way, keep doing it until you hear a chime.

Then take the key out, and press the buttons on the keyfob repeatedly (any of them, doesn't matter) until you hear another chime.

Finally, put the key in the ignition, and turn to pos 2 then off again. The indicators should flash.

If this DOESN'T help:

Open the driver's side door and press the switch inside the catch (I think) eight times quickly. The indicators will flash as the car is now in test mode.

Press the remote buttons. The indicators should flash for each press, telling you that the car is receiving the signal from the key.

To exit test mode, just don't touch anything for 30 seconds - the indicators will flash when the car goes back to normal.

Oh, and I don't want to sound obvious but did you change the battery in the keyfob? As that's likely what was wrong in the first place. It takes a CR2032 one.

Ye mate I've tryed doing the following to reprogram the fob I heard the chime noise but nothing happens when I pressed the key , I tryed this method several times and didn't work .

And is this the red switch which has the cap over it ?

Could you maybe post and imagine just to confirm that this is the right switch .

And ye the fob is working as I had it tested , and i put a new battery in it first thing I done :)

Thanks

Can't provide a pic as I don't have a Focus any more!

The switch is on the B-pillar, inside the steel bit that the door latches into when closed. On mine, it was a black square rubber switch.

[edit] Here's a pic I found on the net:

This bracket is mounted on the b-pillar. I've arrowed the switch you're looking for.
