A/c Light Turns On?

Featured Replies

Hi,

After 10 years driving VW I bought my first Fiesta a week ago and I'm still trying to understand how everything works.... something I can't work out is the A/C light turning itself on automatically.. sometimes it does when I start the car, sometimes later, but I don't touch it.

Can anyone tell me why this happens and what it means? I have hot air all the time now, so A/C is not really on, no?

Many thanks

Dunno, climate control?

Also, A/C doesn't *just* blow cold air - it just happens that that's all 99% of people use it for. It removes moisture and pollutants from the air too. So you can still use it in winter, with the heaters on (in fact, you should do this - if you don't, next time you turn it on in Summer, it won't work because the seals will have dried out and caused the AC system to leak).

Hi and welcome to the club! :)

The A/C light will likely be because you have your fan set to point at the windscreen only.

On most Fords, when you set the fan on the windscreen it automatically turns on the A/C to help with demisting etc

Try turning it to a different position and starting the car.

If you have the fan on and set to screen it automatically turns on A/C. Just turn dial back one click from full screen setting. You should at least use A/C once a week to keep seals lubricated otherwise they dry out and you will loose all the gas.

Really? Mine doesn't! I have a "Max" button which turns all the fans up full and that puts the A/C on, but it never comes on by itself.

Yes this was the case on my MK1.5 Focus and my MK2.5 I currently have. Also the case on many other Fords but not all I guess.

Thanks to all :)

I don't have any Max button... but if you say it's good to have it, I won't turn it off. I very rarely feel I need the air conditioning, even in summer, so I would probably never have turned it on! Good that the car knows what's best..

That's exactly what mine was doing, took me a few goes to realise how to sort it lol
