Rules/regulations On Drls?

Featured Replies

What are the rules on DRLs? People have said on this that they should go off when the dipped beam comes on but I see hundreds of standard cars that just stay on?

They just dim slightly to act as side lights (bit weird as the drl setting is brighter) and stay the same when dipped beam is turned on in my Audi A3

Think its different for cars factory fitted with them to retro fitted, but i was always told, ignition on drls on, ignition off drls off, sides on drls on, dipped on either drls 50-80% less light output or off. And main beam they go off. Thats the understanding i was under plus thats what happens to my mums car with them factory fitted

Mine are factory fitted.

To be honest I think it depends on where they are mounted eg integral to the headlamp like mine or separate in the bumper like a mondeo

Ah ok, cheers. Mines will be around the fogs and I've. Got them of a 30% dim relay when dipped is on so should be ok :)

I think, and this is just my opinion, that if they are mounted any where near the fog lights they must dim so that they are not confused with fog lights.

Sounds like you will be just fine

should be fine m8 if you get stopped for it just unplug them lol or have a sneaky switch somewhere ;) like i do hehe under dash switch no one can comment then ahaa
