Here is the background to this story: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/49617-weird-knocking-noise-after-a-journey/

Here is the actual wording from the report (I asked for a copy): "Carried out road test, confirmed noise compared with another vehicle of same sort and confirmed as normal fuel pump noise."

The guy on the desk said these EcoBoost 1.0 3 cylinder engines have to work hard and the fuel pump is high pressure hence the noise.

I have just tried to upload the audio recording from my dictaphone which is a WMA file 132kb but apparently I am not permitted to upload this kind of file!

Any other ecoboost owners encountered this sort of knocking noise?

Managed to upload the recording here: http://www64.zippyshare.com/v/40887934/file.html

Mine was in for the same and all they done was compare it to another ecoboost which also sounded the same.

Thanks for the reply. Must be the engine then. I knew a small engine would not be as smooth as say a 1.6 but a noise like that seems a bit OTT
