New Fule Pump Or Not?.

Featured Replies

Hi all and help please.

I have got a 2002 mondeo Ghia x estate 2Lt Tdci 138k on clock, when i

accelerate in 3/4 gear. the glow plug light flases and it loses power. AA man said can not read

your motor with my bit of kit. So i went to a garage who put it on their kit and said.

New fule filter and injector cleaner. 2 days of driving no change.

Back on kit, Leak- fule test and new injector, no change

Now they wont to put a new fule pump on. Forgot to say when engine turned off then on drives

o.k. Money is tight,so do i go for a new pump ??.

P.S. drive like miss Daisey no probs

I had exactly those symptoms, and the fault code led me straight to the turbo. It has variable vanes which moves on an actuator. If the vanes get clogged with carbon deposits (a common problem), the actuator cannot move freely, and the car drops into Limp Mode (flashing glow plug light, down on power)). The worst part is, if it continues happening, you can damage the actuator, and if you get into the realms of having to replace it, it can get REALLY expensive.

Cost me £200 for someone to remove it, strip it,clean it and put it all back together. With TDCIs it pays to give it some boot every once in a while - blow all the filth out.

Did they tell you what the error code was? The one I had was P132B.

[edit] Oh, and I'd start using another garage. This growing trend of replacing random parts at the customer's expense really annoys me.
