Overheating

Featured Replies

Hi hoping someone can help me

I've got a mk1 51 plate focus 1.6 petrol with 108k on the clock

My problem is that when I go above 65mph for more than a minute the temperature goes up fairly quickly almost to the red. As soon as I noticed this I slowed down to 60 and the temperature went back to normal.

It only does it at this speed as I still drive it on 50 roads and around town and nothing happens. I'm thinking possibly thermostat or blocked radiator.

On another note I've got eml up atm for a faulty oxygen sensor which am replacing the weekend but I don't think this is the cause of my problem

it depends what you want to do the thermostat housing cracks and leaks causing issues and is fragile so if youre going to do the thermostat youre as well replacing the housing and radiator but it could also be the water pump only way to find out is strip it all down

Yeah change your thermostat and the housing to. Also you can flush your radiator you have nothing to loose.

Also you can use this product

Believe you me you won't regret it.

whilst they sound good it presents the question if they are so good why arent manufacturers using it across the board

good question, but as far as i know everyone that used this product are very happy.

Thanks for the help guys.

I've got a new thermostat. As well as a water pump to go with the timing belt and tensioner I've got. Just finding time to do them at the moment. I'll order up a casing for the thermostat aswell
