Mondeo Mk3 Zenon Headlights

Featured Replies

Having never owned a car with zenon headlights, I find mine to be a little dim but when I initially switch them from side light to main they flash quite bright and then go the setting they are at. Is this normal and is there a way of making them brighter?

Daft question I know but I really am a noob with these lights!

Thanks,

Paul

Pretty sure that's normal mate with the initial surge to fire them up and they settle then to their proper colour temp. Just to confirm, they are proper OEM factory fitted xenon units, and not a retro-fit to the car by a previous owner in place of the standard halogen units? Or an aftermarket HID kit for that matter?

You could try new bulbs, maybe 6000k ones instead of the stock 4300k ones?

Its a factory fitted lights. I just thought they were a little dim but wasn't too sure. Thanks for the reply

No worries, only reason I asked was in case they had been retro-fitted and maybe corners had been cut in terms of the modified wiring or that. I have little experience of the Mondeo xenons myself, so hopefully someone else who has them will be able to help out with their own personal experience in terms of their brightness.

One thing I have read before is that they're not quite as bright as the really modern xenons if that's what you'd be comparing it too. Would be ideal to compare two Mondeos obviously, but not easy I'm sure! I'd say bulbs could be your best bet as a starting point anyway. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Id say go with sourcing new bulbs as my neighbour bought some replacement HID bulbs ( From EBAY ) for his Espace ( Sorry for swearing ) with factory fit HID's and they where awful wouldnt even light up road signs got some genuine ones and they where much better!

It could just be that the bulbs have degraded over time?
