Help.. Nail In Tyre 205/40R/17

Featured Replies

Hello,

Had to put some air in my tyre, looked pretty soft.. Found a nail in it.

Checked with a local tyre and exhaust place and kwik fit. They are both stating I'll need a new tyre?!

Cheapest I can get a Continental Sport 5 is £101 from Camskill which would be £105 delivered however I'd still need to get it fitted. I recon I could get it fitted for £10 from a place next door to my work.

Kwik Fit are stating £140 but online I can order and put it in for £132 and the local garage is £144!!

So gutted.. I recon this happend when I went to B&Q to align my headlights... That's what I get for being a cheap skate and doing it myself.

Anyone think it can be repaird or anyone got a better price I could get for the tyre? I'm going to keep with Continental at the moment.... the tread is perfect on all the tyres too!!!!

Too close to the edge to be repaired IMHO.

Certainly not repairable - tyre is sadly scrap.

I always get my tyres from tyreshopper - price quoted is fully fitted and service has always been excellent.

Maybe worth a look.

Go with the camskill option and get it fitted. Seems like the sensible option :)

Try

I put Hankooks on our 2L Focus, there fine. £71 plus £7.00 to local fitter. Or pay an extra £40 - £60 for the continental. Will you notice the difference. :-)

Plenty of other options around the £80 mark.

Definitely not fixable as it's way to close to the side of the tyre.

If your in the area, try grippy.co.uk or look for a 'w' speed rating tyre not a 'v' as they seem to be cheaper

Try mytyres.co.uk you can deffo get high name brands for cheap brand new. Just have a quick look

Just heading down to Kwik Fit at the moment, tyre didn't hold up for the duration of my shift last night so had to pump it up to get home. I'll not manage to make it till Tuesday/Wednesday to try and get a slightly cheaper option. Ah well.. Just when I thought I was in the money when my £0 p/a Road Tax came through!!!

Kwik fit will do it for £130 if you tell them or even show them a competitors price.
