Mk3 Screenwash Leak

Featured Replies

Good Morning All! I trust we are well?

Ok so for the past couple of weeks I have been using a lot of screenwash causing the low level light to be on every 3 - 4 days! I stripped down the inner arch etc expecting to be greeted by a hole in the reservoir! But wonce under there I discovered the leeak appears to be coming from where the hoses join to the washer pump! Now I'm not 100% sure how to fix this as if i replace the motor the pipe connections are still going to leak! is there a union a little further up the lines where i can replace the offending section ( Hopefully not at Main Stealer prices lol ) or do I attempt to get some very small Jubilee clips and attach the hoese to the motor tightly? Not sure what to do for the best here chaps! Anyone had this issue before? Any Help / Advice gratefully receivied !

Try some small cable ties on any joint you can reach.

Had this myself just weeks ago. Every few days the light would come on.

Where the hoses join the pump there are little plastic connectors, remove these and put the hoses straight on the pump.

No need to remove the bottle. Just remove the wheel and arch liner. If I remember right I removed one bolt from the bottle to get my hand in to remove the pump. I don't know what the point of those connectors is but the hoses are long enough to reach without them.

Awesome I'll have a try hopefully if the rain stops! I may even Zip tie them on just to be sure! After inspecting the bottle the other day I knocked the rear hose and that started dripping aswell so it sounds like those connectors tbh will feed back and let you know the outcome!

The hoses are quite tight on the pump so I doubt you will need them to be honest. I think it took me around 10-15 minutes including taking the wheel off and refitting..

I have no idea what the point in the plastic connectors is.. They are useless and clearly prone to leaks. The pump btw just pulls out of the tank. It's a push fit in the rubber grommet.

Well I braved the Cold and threat of rain last night stripped down the arch etc again and Yes Stef it was leaking from the plastic connectors! A Quick flash from a stanley Knife later and wahoo they where no more LOL. I decided to go belt and braces and zip tie the hoses back onto the pump just to make sure they didn't come off again so far so good cheers for the advice!
