Fiesta S1600 (134) Vs 1.0L Ecoboost 125

Featured Replies

I saw top gear last night and learnt that the new Fiesta 1.0l has 125bhp and 147 lbs/ft of torque which would make it the same if not quicker than my S1600 134bhp?!

Yep, and it makes a lovely noise to. :D

So does my S1600 ;) impressed by the figures for that 1.0l though! ! !

Everyone who's been in mine is impressed, and some dont believe its only a 1.0 L.

I'm old enough to remember the 80's hot hatches, Fiat uno Turbo, Renault 5 Turbo etc, although they were 1.3/ 1.4 . Small engine and Turbo = great fun.

Pretty good huh? I must admit that I miss a naturally aspirated engine though sometimes! When the mood takes I do wish I could wring out the engine that bit more :)

Yeah, they do feel more engaging to drive but at times I do wish I had the turbo torque !

Trust me when the bills for replacement turbos start, you'll be glad you have an n/a car. I vowed along time ago to never own a petrol turbo again. Potential money pits.

I don't know Sheriff. Turbo cars have come a long way since some of that old school stuff.

None of that "throw you into the back window when the turbo comes in" nowadays. Reliable too.

I haven't heard horror stories of the any of the modern turbo's. Yet anyway......

No I guarantee your right. But I can't help thinking that a tiny 3 pot motor with a tiny little turbo, pushing 125bhp, will not have the longevity that the n/a 1.6 would give. Undoubtedly it's a cracking engine and I really did have a think about them, but I chose not too.

I had a mk6 zetec s, my mum had a mk7 zetec s. They were both crackin cars and never missed a beat. I had mine 5 years and never spent a penny on it! That's enough for me to recommend with the 1.6 engine. Only time will tell on the 1.0ltrs I suppose!

I knew I realised something was missing... Top Gear hasnt been recording this series! Damnit!

Not bad for an eco model 'ey?

Nothing like looking on the brightside :) .

But if it does go wrong hopefully my extended warranty will cover it, and when that runs out it will be time to upgrade anyway.

When they come in it's time to start looking for bigger turbos and injectors anyway as warranty is up and not much else will matter anyway, would be more concerned about the box on the car giving up before the turbo tbh, it's a decent charger and set up so i'd imagine it will last a fair while.

Wouldn't say they are money pits either, may cost a bit more to run / service etc but going on Ford's history for example all turbo petrols they make hold their money a lot lot better than the NA's that end up completely worthless after 5 years, massive difference sport models or not.

This Ecoboost hasn't taken off particularly well either as Turbo cars scare off eco friendly car buyers esp the old dears that hunt around for them and should keep the numbers nice and low, engine of the year or not.
