Hello, the wife's 07 focus 1.6 petrol wouldn't start, battery was fine, had to put water in 2 times in last couple of weeks, anyway pushed it to give it a bump start, it chugged and chugged then started, lots of smoke out of exhaust (similar to a Diesel engine), starts fine now but sounds abit rough and slightly smells, on the last mot was advised that the exhaust manifold was blowing slightly, could this be the problem or is it likely to be something else?

Any help much appreciated

white smoke could have indicated water...keep an eye on water level, maybe sign of head gasket failing

black smoke will be fuel...possibly flooded engine, maybe just a one-off..but check condition of spark plugs if not changed recently

blue smoke is oil...loads of possibles, none of which are a cheap fix..again, check plugs for signs of oil fouling
