Morning Guys,

bought some HIDs last night, 6000k, went to fit them and got them wired up and working BUT the problems started when i tried to plug fit them into my headlight holder? I could not - there is wires going into the old plug (what the bulb clipped into for power) and there is no "catches" that i can lock the bulb in place with?

Anyone got any solutions or am i going to have to make a bracket?

Are you doing it yourself by any chance, i had them done on mine bought a hid system

For about 80£ and got it professionally done for about 50£ they did a great job dont know what they did but it works so hey

The problem started when you got a cheap HID kit and started fitting it to halogen headlight units lol

HID's wont fit over the original bulb catch in the mk7.

In order to fit them this is what you have to do.

Firstly you need to push the negative spade of the HID bulb into the brown wire side on the bulb catch and the red postive wire into the red and black wire size as such:

Then you need to clip the bulb into the original bulb holder ( i cut mine in order to get it to fit over the wires):

Then it should look like this with the bulb in place:

tuck everything away and splice the headlight grommet enough so that the wires can come out to connect to the ballast. I taped my ballasts underneath the light. Hope this helps. Make sure you get the aim adjusted by a garage afterwards as HID's usually aim higher than the standard bulbs
