What Ford To Get

Featured Replies

I have the choice of a 07 Ford focus tdci 1.8 sport with 6300miles or a 07 Ford cmax 1.6 tdci life with 79000 miles. The focus is £4495 the cmax £3995. Do I go for the cheapest or the lower mileage? what car is better? Thanks in advance.

Go for the 1.8 Sport, more robust engine and pretty much bombproof. (I am biased though as that's what I have).

The 1.8 is the only true Ford engine in the range, it's simple and effective plus it's very tuneable too.

The 1.6 is a Peugeot/Citroen/Ford mishmash and has the terrible diesel particulate filter (DPF) to contend with which causes many headaches.

Id go with the sport 😆

I've currently got a 1.8 w reg focus petrol that still goes well but wasn't sure on diesel

Cheaper to run diesel are :) and even if you wanted a bit more poke you can get remapped cheap enough

I usually get over 460 to a tank which involves city and motorway driving but my right boot is a bit weighty ;).

Plenty of poke on mine as it's mapped to 148bhp and goes like a stabbed rat :d

Going from a MK1 petrol to a MK2 diesel will put a smile on your face for sure.

I did exactly the same from a V reg 1.8 petrol and the extra poke and torque will be very noticeable.
