Passenger Seat Can't Be Opened.

So I was wondering if anyone could help me. My friend pulled on the lever to open the passenger seat when accessing the back seats on my car (3 doors, Zetec S) and the metal 'bar' has slipped out of the clip.

I got the seat into the forward position to slack the wire a little but I can't seem to pull it up past the plastic clip. Has anyone had this problem before / know how to fix it?

Maybe someone knows how to remove the clip so I can put the bar back and then clip it back on?

Hopefully someone will have some advice for me :D

*I'll post a picture of what I mean tomorrow when there is a bit of light outside*
