Bonnet Open Message When Closed ?

Featured Replies

Morning

Has anybody else had the problem of "bonnet open" message on the dashboard when bonnet closed. I have a 2007 focus ghia 1.8 tdci lovely car but this prob, please help me.

Cheers turbo

Sounds like a dodgy sensor on the bonnet catch.

Thanks will look at getting a new one, but can they just go ?

As with any switch, they could stick either closed or open.

In this case, I believe that a closed circuit denotes a closed bonnet, so if the switch has failed, where its closed the switch is still open.

Some have had success with bypassing the switch so as to stop the warning however this also stops the alarm going off when the bonnet is opened while the car is locked.

Thanks stoney and you jeebo I've also noticed someone else had the problem back in March and he took it apart and cleaned it and put it back in, which worked so will try that first.
