diddles
Hi, when my car is a idle it looks like the crankshaft pulley is wobbling slightly. Can someone confirm if this is normal or is a replacement pulley needed. The car is only on 47,000 miles. Thanks
stef123
Petrol or diesel? I don't know if the diesel fiestas have a damper pulley.. If so then it could be worn. Otherwise there shouldn't be any wobble.
diddles
It's a petrol, it's only very slight wobble

stef123
The link didn't work for me but I did find your video on YouTube. I don't think that movement looks excessive.. I personally wouldn't worry about it

Nathan_M
Hi, mine is also doing this, its a slight wobble, would you like me to upload a little video so we can compare notes? Hahaha.
diddles
haha, yes please!
Nathan_M
Right its not the best but you can see it a little bit, but not alot, haha, i think its made to look worse in my case by the Continental stamps on the belt, also the AC belt isn't 100% centered on the pulley, but its one of them things where you see it once and keep on listening out or looking for it, i mean its hardly got a severe wobble to be fair but it may be that the little zse engines are like it because i have a feeling that the little amount of wiggle is what causes the cold engine belt squeak on 7/10 mk6s i see in the work car park starting from cold. Im wondering if it would be possible to check the bolt tightness from above as i cant be asked to take the wheel and splash guard off ;) , haha. Nathan_M
Atleast we know that lots have the problem or ours are just !Removed!, for me it's nice to hear another that's got a silly rattling or wobbly noise. diddles
Couldn't really see the wobble in your video but I compared my one with my girlfriends mates one and its pretty much the same. Need to do my cambelt so hopefully the little rattle I got goes away.
Nathan_M
Don't get excited my cambelt is only 3k old, I think it's something to do with the fact that the pulley has no key so it's bolted on as tight as hell so even the slightest imperfection in the crank or the pulley would show, rattles from these engines are all different but all I hear have the same clattery horrible cold noise, I shall sleep easy now to know a lot are probably like it and mine isn't just about to play up. diddles
Mine has a rattle from the belt area which I think maybe the cambelt tensioner. Here is a video. Ford fiesta mk6 noise: https://youtu.be/ogy9R9Es6_A Also is your engine a bit whiney, here's a video of mine. Seeing as we are comparing notes an all. l1.4 zetec whine?: https://youtu.be/3HulQAKu2WE
Nathan_M
The first noise isn't so bad on mine but I doubt it's the tensioner as mine did it before and after the cambelt was changed as a kit including the tensioner, the second noise is also normal if mine is anything to go by, I'm thinking valves as they are fairly noisey on these things anyway, both noises sometimes aren't present on mine making me think once oil temperature is higher it cleans it's self of gunk or it just lubricates it's self that bit more, most fiestas I see hear the same most of the tappy knocky type noises are made worse by the all aluminium construction of the motor so if ours are in fact anything to go by then the noises are pretty normal, perhaps the first noise is an injector noise because it's not really in my case all that localised I couldn't put my finger on the place it comes from, most fiestas with the tensioner on its way out make a harsh grinding noise from the cambelt cover and I would have thought if you put your hand on the cover you would feel a tappy knocky vibration through the plastic, I'm going worry free for now, perhaps we should upload more videos for each other we could go viral I have work early so I shall put a link to some other videos of mine tommorow afternoon. Nathan_M
I did this video for someone last year and to me they sound the same, I would say that's just the way they are. http://youtu.be/kcsR942JOuY Sent from my GT-N5110 using Ford OC mobile app
