Rattle From Drivers Door Trim

Featured Replies

Hi all, i am glad to say that since my car had its first service it has not had the no rev problem but i have got a bad rattle coming from the top right of the drivers door trim, its had it from new but the garage could not hear it, if i put my elbow on it with a bit of pressure it stops so it is the door trim. Thinking of taking the door trim off and have a look, are they easy to get off?

I wouldn't take it off myself, they are held on by little plastic clips that always break when removed and makes things worse, is it the trim around the tweeter that's rattling? mine did but it just pops off, just remove it and add some dynomat around it, will stop it all.

Thanks for the reply, if you were sat in the drivers seat looking at the door trim its the top right hand corner that rattles, trouble is me not being very tall its close to my right ear and its driving me nuts. I would say it rattles 85% of the time. Could i buy replacement clips before i do it?

You can buy the clips from ford, they will 99% of the time always have them and cost pence, essentially it'll be a few screws and it'll snap off, wire off for the window mech and that's it. but if it is that side it's a solid part isn't it? have you tried giving it a good shove inwards? it may just be the clip isn't in properly and it might pop in, give it a go and see if it moves inwards at all.

id say its more than likly a broken clip m8 tbh, easy to change and costs pence

Thanks all for the replys, if i apply a bit of force with my elbow top right of trim it stops, i have tried pushing it in with a good bit of force but it still rattles as soon as i stop pushing it in, to me it sounds like if there was a wiring loom around that area its like it is making and breaking contact with the trim panel. I will order those clips and then have a go. Thanks for the help.

its dead easy to get the door card off, theres a vid on youtube, and im deasd sure there is a clip in the top right corner if not then maybe something is caught and not letting it sit correctly but having a bag of those clips is handy they are everywhere on the car and ive broken loads removing things lol heavy handed
