Hi

I have recently bought a 1.6 automatic Ford Focus 2007.

I have noticed that the power output from the car is not as expected. The car has poor acceleration it is not as quick as I would expect even at full throttle, this is especially noticeable going up hills. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

the 1.6 is 100bhp and as an automatic it is slow im afraid the 115bhp car has more go but the auto is well known to be very sluggish and like any 1.6 it needs revved hard to get any performance from it

1.6 petrol low bhp auto and no torque will mean its gonna be slow up hill.Did you test drive any others with the same gearbox and engine that felt faster?

Thanks for the replies, its good to hear its not a problem with the sensors or something like that. Is there any common problems with automatics?

Also I wanted to know whether you should change your fuel filter, as a mechanic said you can't change the fuel filter on these cars?

And is it recommended to change the gearbox oil or is that a sealed unit and you are not able to change it?

Sorry to ask loads of questions but i just want to confirm a few things.

Shouldn't really need to change gearbox oil,of course you can change the fuel filter.

Never changed trans oil in any car me or my family owned and it never did any harm.how do the later models work in regards to non changeable filters then?

As for the transmission, we are talking auto boxes here not manual.

So am I.although I'm talking pre 2000 and I know anything past that are over complicated and purposefully made to fail,like everything in the world now lol
