New Fiesta St3

Featured Replies

Seen just there that there is now an additional spec for the fiesta ST the ST3 and got quite excited thinking it would be similar to the focus ST3 ie comes with full leather seats/bixenon headlights but no ford has basically added a grand onto the ST2 and given a couple of extras on top which IMO don't merit the extra £1000.

I believe it's now cheaper to buy an ST-3 than to spec up an ST-2.

Im still not happy you'd think with the ST3 they'd chuck in a few things extra that you cant get on the ST2 and make the ST3 more appealing. Like I said with the focus you can only get bixenon headlights/full leather seats on the ST3 and a few other things aswel. Could've atleast chucked in the bixenon headlights! Would have been a nice addition to what otherwise is a great car

xenon headlights need a lot of working. In order for them to be fitted to a car from the factory they must be equipped with auto levelling and a cleaning system. This would all add cost and complexity to the car especially for a new trim level. Could see the being there on the Mk8 though.

I know the rules regarding bixenon headlights but based on what you said the focus shouldnt have had them either because its only the top of the range focus's that you can get bixenons on ie ST3 and the titanium models. So it would have been added expense to add these to the higher spec models also. Its just the usual with ford they're scrimping when it comes to the fiesta

^ The ballasts come as part of the headlight, if Ford made Xenons for the Fiesta it would be interchangeable across all fiestas that it will fit in and work perfectly fine, So you can have a Non Xenon Focus and just buy some Second hand ST headlights that are Xenon and put them in with no issues at all.

Are you sure? Put xenons in my friend's Focus (2011 new shape) and they just flickered and would not power up. DRLs only came on with sidelights too.

Worked on every model of Clio and corsa so far, if they flickered they have power / working, the units are very fragile and may have been damaged in the post ( no one sells Clio Xenons via post always collection for this reason ) or not fitted correctly / wire loose. They run of the same circuit and power supply no reason at all they cannot work on any car, it's only the light unit that's different as it's cheaper for the manufacturer, you may lose DRLS as the original car isn't set up / equipped to run them.

Also the xenon headlights were designed to be in the Mk3 focus from when it was designed in the beginning. The mk7 fiesta wasn't designed with them in the first place, so researching and designing all of the parts for xenons, and then putting them to market would cost a lot. Xenon headlights are an option on the Polo and cost almost £800.

Id happily pay that! If it was atleast an option. As I've said they could do it they're just being stingy with the fiesta st

I would have liked Xenons too, but when you price it up compared to a specced up ST2, the ST3 is a good price.

Welcome to the blue ST club :). Same car as mine, did you get any other options, and did you get a good price?

The xenons would only be compatible if they had a manual adjuster too. They would come with self level adjusters, fed by a load sensor at the rear of the car (some have 2, another at the front). If not they would power up and the motor would point them at the floor by default. Easy to trick it though.
