Drum Upgrade

Featured Replies

I have a 2012 fiesta mk7 edge

I am wondering if it is possible to upgrade my rear drums to discs and if it is a reasonable option and how much it would cost.

Thanks

That's a lot of dough, surely you can have the rear beam off a fiesta with discs at the back for less than that?

The only Fiesta with rear discs is the new ST so good luck finding one of them in a scrapyard :p

Don't any of the Dervs or the 1.6's have rear discs? pretty poor if they dont.

Nope, 2013 ST is the first time ever on a Fiesta.

LOL Ford are certainly going up in the world now.

The question is would you really need it?

I for one think the car stops great besides it has ABS and Traction control to help with the stopping power. It's also a very light car, so unless you want to race your car around a track its not worth it and if you do want to race around a track get a ST ;)

Brakes on the ecoboost are proper !Removed!, I used to brake in complete fear sometimes, and when you upgrade in power you should invest in better brakes and at least springs ( helps braking by reducing travel distance when the car leans forward ) tcs does duck all to aid braking. ST brakes ate immense compared to ecoboost ones. Proper sharp and precise.

I do understand that if you upgrade the power that its a good idea to upgrade the brakes as well, but at what cost does it become cheaper just to upgrade to the ST? 550 pounds is alot of money and my question is would it be worth it ?

Cheaper than buying a set of AP's for the front, depends on how much you like caning it around and how much you value your car / livelihood to match.

as said, find an ST that's been smashed in half and take the entire rear beam, it'll cost half of that, plus disc and pad replacement won't play into the pockets of pumaspeed

i know it looks better with discs all around but when I come to think about it isn't worth that amount of money because it only for looks really nothing else.
