Rattling From Turbo?

Featured Replies

Hi all I have a rattling noise coming from my engine I'm suspecting it's the actuator. The car is a 1.0 ecoboost ZS The rattling comes

In at 3k revs when stationary and when driving too. Also when releasing the accelerator when driving and letting it reduce the revs on it's own it rattles again at 1.5k revs anyone know what it might be?

Heat shielding most likely, I had it on my 1.0, couldn't get rid of it.

Mine rattles on a cold start, goes away when I press the clutch or when I rev slightly.

Just revved it on a cold start to 3k and the rattling is near gone it's mainly when warm so possibly heat shield?

Yes, once the revs get too high the pulses from the vibration cannot be heard clearly and you think it's gone away.

Take it off, make it run cooler, just don't touch it.

I will try the heat shield see if that resolves anything I mY take it to fords for a diagnostic just to be sure.

Won't hurt to give it a go, if it sorts it take it back to Ford you'll have solid grounds to make them fix it, I tried but they said they couldn't hear anything. Was getting rid of the car so didn't pursue it.

I know this post is 10 years old but I’m currently having the same problem. Been told by dealership it’s the turbo actuator, would this be correct?
