Rear Left Light Problem

Featured Replies

I noticed today that there is a moisture/water inside my rear left light. Any advice guys of how to repair it? Or should i replace the whole unit?

Both of mine seem to get it from time to time usually when its rained or been washed and then gone sunny/warm. I have also noticed it on quite a few other focus too. Its just a small steamed up patch on mine about halfway down the light and disappears after a while. I haven't bothered doing anything with it yet with it just being a small patch that disappears. I would say first thing to do would be to check the seals where the bulbs fit in.

Choose a day that your not going anywhere,

wear some rubber gloves,

Remove the tail lights completly following my guide here:

http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/43587-guide-fitting-ford-rs-led-rear-light-units-focus-mk25/

Clean the rear of the headlights and wax the body of the car,

Ensure all vents in the tail light units are clear of obstruction,

Unplug the bulbs from the unit and leave to air for a few hours,

Inspect the rubber seals around the bulb sockets for signs of perrished rubber or a broken seal which would allow moisture in,

Inspect the lens for signs of cracks or seperation in the bonded seals,

The cavity between the body and tail light gathers alot of bird excrement over time and blocks the vents,
