Featured Replies

Underneath the bonnet, whats the padding for on top of the jets hoses?

Is it safe to remove and not use it?

Sound insulation. Many people take it off and have no issues.

Will help on the casual thrash in summer ;D hahaha

It also helps to prevent heat distortion of the bonnet on diesel cars as the engine runs hotter.

I'm sure you'll figure out something!

In all seriousness, what you got planned? :)

Doesn't it also help put out engine fires? I either read that or made it up...

Think you made it up lol.

I leave mine on in the winter and take it off for the summer

you might find the top end (tappets etc) noise is a lot louder with the insulation removed, (depending how loud your exhaust/ intake is that would drown out the noise) and you might want to put it back on again

Im dressing the engine bay a bit and got an idea from another site, its has to come down so i can use the shapes in the bonnet behind it, its basically just reflective colour chrome vinyl and then put some nice not bright but glowing light in the back of the engine bay then when i have the stainless steel parts in their the light reflects everywhere and on the chrome it looks wicked l!!

Heres what it looks like and im going for

Its just for show as there would be a hidden switch for the light or even wire it into the bonnet latch so when open lights on and closed they go off will have to see :)

Would the padding make much difference to the sound?? I have a pretty loudish exhaust as it is and intake lol

I took the padding off my clio and it made no difference over a 104db decatted system.
