Good evening.Any body got any suggestions how to get a bit more oomph out of my ickle 1.4 tdci Fez.I really wanted to buy the 1.6 version but there aint many around that have'nt been to the moonn and back already so I had to settle for the 1.4.I am led to believe I can get hold of some wonderful piece of magic " chip" that could boost me ponies up to 80- 85 which would certainly help.Where do I buy this magical chip and do they really work-or is it just an electronic go faster stripe?

Personally wouldn't bother with a tuning box, (others may differ in opinion) I'd go for a remap, 2-3 hundred quid, and around a 30% gain in power. You'll really notice the difference.

eBay chips are junk, pretty lights in a cheap board and not worth the sum of their parts.

You would be far better served by either a rolling road remap or a 'decent' tuning box.

My oppo recently fitted a box from the company linked below (actually I fitted it for him but that's a minor detail ;)) and is very happy with the results.

Thanks-what will it cost in terms of MPG reduction (I know that sounds boring-but hey thats why we bought diesels in the first place?)

A decent tuning box will fine tune fuel management whilst getting optimal performance out of the engine.

You should gain some extra economy and get more bang for your buck.

I was never convinced of tuning box usefulness but my mate is more than happy with his plus his fuel range has definitely improved (not quite 20% as advertised, but he is reporting about 30-40 miles extra on each fill).
