JW1982
The Focus MK2 Petrol version does not have a changeable fuel filter. There is only a strainer which is mounted on the intake of the fuel pump in the fuel tank. As far as I know the strainer is not available as a spare part. If you want to change the strainer you have to replace the complete fuel sender unit. If there are no problems related to the fuel supply there is no need to replace it. The strainer has a relative large mesh. In most cases it is possible to clean the strainer using compressed air if necessary. To get access to the fuel sender unit it is necessary to remove the fuel tank from the car. After the fuel tank is removed the fuel sender unit can be removed from the tank. The fuel sender unit is secured to the fuel tank with a large plastic nut.
nazsky786
Well the reason is the car sometimes has issues starting. Sent from my HTC One_M8
JW1982
A dirty fuel strainer will be noticeable at high RPM's first when the engine uses the most fuel. The dirt in the strainer will partly block the fuel intake of the fuel pump and reduces the fuel supply to the engine.
nazsky786
But wouldn't the engine use more fuel to start as well.
jeebowhite
nah because the idling fuel use is minimal, its like a slow trickly, whereas at high revs your looking at a jetstream of fuel in comparison. I would say its less likely that the hard start is due to this particular filter.
nazsky786
Someone else is having same issue . One person said it's the coolant temp sensor.
