Bluefin Chip Help ! !

Featured Replies

Hi I am in need on some advice, I have the ST-2 2014 and coming up to 2500 miles so I am ready to start doing a few bits now the engine has had a good run in.

I was looking at getting the bluefin chip for it and just wondered if anyone else with the ST or any fiesta has used it on there's and could tell me if it's worth the money or not ?

Also would anyone else bother as I want to keep the warranty but I have had mixed views saying it will void it bit other people saying they wouldn't even no it's been done so maybe someone could clue me up with that.

Cheers

Wouldn't bother with bluefin. Get the more upmarket ones such as Revo. All maps other than mountune will void the warranty and it does record mapping on the ecu so they will find out.

Nice one bud.

Will have a look around at the others and see what I think.

Bluefin chips are great for diesels as they increase the ps/bhp + torque a hefty amount, not too sure what they're like for Nasp engines..

Would defo shop around and see what other companies can do for you!

I completely disagree with this - the Soperchips Bluefin is the market leader (for good reason) and the most well-established/ longest running of these companies - i would choose them over the revo any day -Superchips supports Ford /the bluefin is available for many, many more Ford models than the revo

The bluefin has exellent after-sales service and has the resources to continually update/ improve their products (there is a lot of evidence of this on FOC)

My advice -

If you want to keep your warrantee get the Mountune (you get a filter and a bit of pipe as well as the remap)

Or for around two-thirds of the price of the Mountune go for the Bluefin (its about the same power as the mountune and has the usual Bluefin advantages) ,

Yeah from what I have been reading revo is for all put power and don't really do any testing or not as much as the blokes at bluefin. All I seem to find it bluefin this that and the other not really came across any others which is telling me most people use them.

I look at the mouthing but my insurance wanted 2k extra for it :?

So it's either do that and not tell them (pointless in my mind to void my insurance)

Or go with the bluefin and hope ford don't realise if it ever goes in that it has it done to it.

I'll still keep pondering on it as I like to do things properly so I may just have to wait.

Cheers for all the replay anyway guys.

You really think for all the cars Superchips sell them for they do lots of testing??? do you know how many people they would need to employ to be able to do thousands of miles in for each and everycar? I'd be much much more confident in a niche company that does few applications personally. It's not actually difficult for any motorsport programmer to work out new AFR's without driving the car.

Option 3: don't do anyting to the st as it is great as standard , then you don't void any warranty! :P

Yep, I think that's what I have settled on after reading around.

I just installed a Graham Goode DIAS on my ST and the difference in induction and wastegate chatter put a massive smile on my face, the wastegate noise is 3 times louder.

Along with the above and the sharper throttle response it's one mod worth doing!

That even comes with a little heat shield that one. Any chance of a vid?

Here you go -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiesta-ST-180-EcoBoost-Turbo-DAIS-Direct-Air-Induction-Kit-System-K-N-Air-Filter-/390707116294?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5af7f57906

Unfortunately it is not sealed from the underbonnet air/heat, so is liable to suffer from heatsoak/ power loss in use

The advert stresses the noise it makes, and although the "development" is "just finished" no actual power claims are made or evidence (eg- dyno graphs etc ) apart from they would "expect" and extra 10hp "dependant on engine management calibration"

i would "expect" power losses due to heat soak (even with the feed- as it will still draw warm underbonnet air)

A "micky mouse" product for those who are more interested in making more noise than more power - very dissapointing from a once respected tuner

No it doesn't come with a heat shield however I'm looking to fabricate my own at some point, as mentioned the throttle response and the turbo spool seems quicker,

The other one to look at is the J1 automotive DIAS, this one does have some sort of heat shield but doesn't look as good visually in my opinion.

What ever happened to the old carbon shielded viper ones for £199 regardless of vehicle. They were brilliant. Heat soak is only really an issue when idling and pulling away in first, when moving on its fine. Itg make one that relocates nicely. Quite dear though and replacement filters are expensive and need oiling now and then to prevent them from perishing same as itb kit filters.

Yeah the ITG isn't much more that the GGR however it's hidden under the headlight, I prefer having a nice big cone filter that looks and sounds good with the bonnet up.

ITG one will sound good, I had the Maxogen on my Clio, did nothing for power as no filters do on them, in fact the standard airbox was tested to be the best, but it did sound pretty good, like a hoover under the bonnet, then the exhaust and decat came along and drowned it all out.

They do use decent materials though and they fit very well.
