Newbie With Recently Purchased 1.6 Ecoboost

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone.

I purchased a 12 plate 1.6 Ecoboost Titanium X last week and am loving it so far..

When I got the car I checked all the lights in the evening to make sure all was in order and all seemed fine.

I have just been for a drive this afternoon and tried turning on the side lights, but nothing comes on at the front.

The LED daytime running lights were on and the rear side lights came on. Is it that I have a problem with the car,

or do the side lights just not engage until it gets dark ?

I also have noticed condensation in the driver wing mirror indicator lens. It has been there for a few days. I am presuming

that is should not be there... Is it a warranty repair item ?

I would appreciate anyone's comments on the above.

Thanks,

Simonpieman

Hi and welcome, there are no separate sidelights, the DRLs just dim a bit instead

I have read of other people with the condensation problem, I think it requires a replacement light which can be done under warranty, but am not 100% sure

Thanks for the reply Alex.

I just found it strange, as when turning the lighting control to option B - side and tail lamps, the bulbs at the front remained off. Yet when I tried the other night, the bulbs came on. Hence my concern something is wrong.. I will try again later when it gets dark.

As regards the condensation, I have read that as well.. I will take it back to the dealers, as I have had the car under a week and it should have been checked.

Welcome Simon, which 1.6 Ecoboost is it ? 125bhp - 150bhp - 182bhp ? , Looks well the new Focus in Titanium X model love the DRL's!

I got the 182bhp one. Not point messing about !

I am very impressed with it so far. I did have my reservations after driving an Audi S3 for a number of years, but the Ecoboost definitely seems up to the task.

Welcome! Sounds like a lovely car!

I've never had the pleasure of driving the new Ecoboost engines yet but I would as you've done gone for the 182bhp ( Fiesta ST) engine and your comments are interesting after you having a Audi S3 which aren't slow by any means.

The primary reason for going for the Focus was running costs... The Audi S3 is a great car but very expensive when it comes to fixing it..

Hopefully the Focus will be cheaper to maintain !

My son in law a mechanic and he swears blind that Ford's are more reliable than Audi 's & Volkswagen's.

I was also advised by a friend who is a car dealer to go for a Focus, due to their reliability.

The Audi's whilst great to drive are really expensive in all other aspects - especially an S3 where everything is "Non Standard" or "Not on the shelf"

The amount of money I have spent fixing my S3, I could have bought a Focus outright !

I've had the top of the range Mondeo's both 2.0 + 2.5V6's since they began in 1993 on K-reg and am now on my 7th Mondeo and I've never been let down once !!and the heated seats & windscreen are worth there wait in gold on a cold morning.

Only difference, is I have had my S3 for 13 years (since new) whereas you are on your 7th Mondeo. So I imagine they would be reliable if you are changing them after 3 years or so.

I get bored to be honest Simon ,Ive had this 2 years and if I wasn't paying for our daughters wedding in August I'd be getting another one Christ I could have bought brand new !! , my wife buys brand new and sells them at 4-5 years or 27k?, am looking at classic Ford's now mk2 Granada 2:8i Ghia automatic or ST220 MONDEO I love'em !!, But i'll think of reliability and being practical and that'll be that?
