Possible Imrc Fault?

Featured Replies

Got a Mk2 1800 Duratec Focus, nice car but there's one little thing that bugs me about the performance. When I last checked there were no fault codes in it and its never put the mil light on but it seems to have a lull / flat spot in the revs, mainly when you most need it i.e. overtaking. It pulls really well up to 3.5k but then the performance sort of levels off, then at about 4.5k its like VTEC kicked in YO :D and it flies off again. I know on my old six pot Mondeo the imrc kicked in at 4k iirc, so I'm wondering if I've got something sticking etc or whether that's just how it is.

that would be the EGR valve - blank it off and you will feel its a lot better!

Thanks for that. Egr had crossed my mind but I thought I'd ask here before I ripped it to bits!

Blanking it can only make it better lol
