Rear Window Winders - 2002 Mk6 5Dr Help!

Featured Replies

Hi all, new to the forum.

Just bought a 2002 Fiesta Mk 6 Finesse, 5dr 1.3L as my first car. I really like it, I've just noticed a couple of issues with the car.

Firstly, the rear windows just won't wind down. It's a standard model so they're not electric - they're the old style hand winder ones. They're not stuck in place, they just continuously wind round without seeming to make any connection with the mechanism inside the door. Its previous owner was Lancashire Police, so I'm wondering if the windows have been disabled in some way to stop people throwing themselves out of the window. Is it possible to reverse this or is it more likely that they're just broken? Thought it worth checking as it seems odd that both rear passenger windows have the exact same problem.

Also, contrary to what the dealer said, the car wasn't supplied with a spare wheel or jack kit. Pretty annoying as he assured me that it would be and now he's conveniently gone away on holiday. Just hope i don't get a flat in the meantime. Can't seem to find any replacements online that don't cost a fortune.

Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Take the door card off and see if the cable moves, if it doesn't or isn't there you need a new window mech as the cable is sealed and cannot be replaced separately, wont cost much from a scrappy.
