Best Miles Per Tank Estimates!

Hi Guys,

I want to know what your best miles per tank estimates (trip computer) are and just how close you get to them!

When I bought this car, after a few adjustments, I managed to get the car to estimate 900 miles, after a couple of heavy footed moments - I only achieved a 713 mile tank, second run after a lot more heacy footedness, I achieved a 695 mile tank on its a 70 litre tank and a 1.8TDCi.

Now, after I have done the EGR blank and topped the car up, I am getting a whopper of an estimate!

after just a few miles, this is what the computer was saying:

after a trip to work this morning:

and when I got back from work tonight:

Now, I know its highly unlikely I will get near these estimates but its pretty awesome to see the car think it can achieve these numbers! I am heeping fingers crossed and toes light to see just how close I can get to these numbers.

So the question to you, what is the best your computer advised, and what is the closest you got to it?

this is somthing i have never thought about doing................ but average is 302m per half a tank.....

the only time i brim the tank is if the car is getting used for a journey... normally 1/2 a tank will last the week.............

In light of all the above posts this sounds terrible, but our old 1997 Ford Fiesta 1.25 used to get between 350-375 miles per tank (around 45MPG) which as I said sounds terrible, but actually was great considering it only had a 42 litre tank and had a 1990s petrol engine.

Our current car; the 2000 Focus 1.8 gets the same miles per tank as the Fiesta, but considering it has a 55 litre tank that equates to around 10MPG less than the abovementioned. Still, it isn't bad for a 1.8 litre petrol with 175,000 miles on the odometer!

These are pretty good results though, as you say age and mileage has a heck of a part to play.

The car is currently on track for about an 1100 mile tank. Sadly as I am off work next week, its back to pottering down driving, so I doubt very much I will get anywhere near the mark, probably closer to the 700 - maybe 800 at a push, but even that would be good.

I really want to squeeze everything out of my car, and to do that I have to drive like a granny :p cruise on at 60 on the motorways!

I wonder what would happen if I got the car a terraclean service as well :p I will post my results probably by the end of the month or next month as to how a full tank does on the motorway and A roads, but I would love to see how it goes!

thats not bad, and a 45 litre tank in there getting you 500 miles is a good result!

My tank is still looking good, 1060 miles to go 118.9 done, and 73.3MPG, I am impressed!

I really want to see the best part of 1000 miles under my mileage! that would be awesome :D

My RS2000 Escort Mk6 would get 200 miles from a full tank.

My TDCi Focus mk1 gets 460 miles from a full tank

they arent bad results for the age of them!

Sadly the town driving is now taking its toll, my +1000 miles is now down to about 900 :(

haha, half the weight as its manual not auto, but the weight probably doesnt differ a great deal.

Sadly though, as the Mrs just wants short hops, the car is barely warming, I have now dropped to a max of 800 it recons...
