New MK7 Fiesta help

Featured Replies

Hi im new to the forums :)

Sorrry for the longish post but i had to write this for you to get what is going on.

Right i got my new fiesta 1.6 titaniuma couple of weeks back now but have had numerous problems with the paintwork.

The colour is the Hot Magenta

When we recieved the car it had quite a few surafce scratches in white but also the swirl marks over some area the body work. So we complained and asked them to remove all the scratches, including the swirl marks as it it a NEW car.

Get it back one week later and it is about 10x worse than it was before. Someone has used a buffing machine on it and put swirl marks where there were not before and left buffer swirls over the doors and bonnet. I have done some research into this and found that it is an inexperience user using a buffing machine with the wrong compund / pad type/ speed.

So we have complaine again to the manager and had to take it down to him and the paint specialist and he said that with these darker colours there will be swirl marks even from NEW. I can not belive this is true  How can a brand NEW car have swirl marks all over the paint work? My belief is someone has washed it with a dirty sponge or dried it with a dirty leather.

So my questiosn to you are:

Should my NEW car have all of these swirl marks all over the paint work?

Has anyone else had problems with their paintwork especially the Hot Magenta colour?

Right my second qquestion is in regard to the engine.

The model is supposed to be a 1.6 Ti-VCT titanium.

BUT when looking at the supposedly 1.6 engine, it looks completely different to the one in the handbook that comes with the car and in comparison wth the handbook the engine we have looks more like the 1.4 :o . For example the air pipe from the air filter in the 1.4 goes straight down below the engine where as the 1.6 air pipe goes over the top and around the back of the engine. Secondly the spark plug layout is differnt on the 1.4n to the 1.6 and out engine once again our car looks more like the 1.4 version.

So my questions for the engine are:

How can I identify whether the engine is a 1.6 or not?

If possible could a person with a 1.6 engine post a pciture of it from under the bonnet.

I really needsoem help wit these issues and would appreciate any feedback very much

Thanks :)

Firstly Yes your car will have swirls marks in it when they deliver it as they get some proper monkeys to was the car before it gets sent out.

Secondly any paint can be sorted so it has no swirl marks in it at all if it is given to the right person with the right tools. Unfortunatly i had exactly the same thing as you.

I got my panther black Zetec S with lots of swirls in it but i few hours with the DA and polish sorted it out no problem. Ford are basically being lazy and don't want to sort it for you.

I would suggest going to ford and saying you will get a professional to do it but you will send the bill to ford as it shouldnt happen

1.6 ti-vct

Theres a pic of the engine, courtesy of autoexpress lol , seems strange you having a lower intake pipe, sound like a different engine, cant help you with the paintwork,i have frozen white and i have no swirls. Hope that helps you a little.

Yes i think a proper monkey did wash our car. And then who ever attempted to do the buffing was even worse.

But surely if it is a new car it should not come with all of the scratches on it?

We are getting Ford to do it for free, as the car came like it and we are unsatified with the finish so, th paint manager is going to do a proper job this time. Hopefully  .

Right that looks the same, which is good, please could you provide me a link to the whole page please if possible.

But why in the manual/ handbook that Ford give you look completely differnet. According to the handbook Ford give you that pciture there is a 1.4.

Please coud someone else who owns a 1.6 confirm that, that is the engine that you have in your car using the picture that RSM 123 kindly posted, as i just dont get why that engine looks completly different to the one in the Ford handbook provided by Ford.

I only have a Zetec 1.25 but can't help with the engine.

However, If i'd spent that amount of money on a car I'd expect it to be clean when it arrived and definately not have surface scratches. Ford are being very lazy.

I won't help you because my car is beeing serviced now:P

Make the dealer use a paint correction specialist, Google: Race Valet

Thank you very much for that, i really do appreciate it and it does look exactly the same as mine without the Mountune stickers.

My engine is definately a 1.6.

It is silly of Ford to produce a handbook that comes with the car and showing a differnet picture of the 1.6 engine though.

That is exactly y point we have spent all this money for a NEW car and it coems with Swirl marks over it. It should not happen, and they need to sort the people out who are cleaning the cars as out cars paintwork is now terrible.

Just hope they can can sort it out at their head ford paint workshop.

you may have skimmed post #9

It sounds like your car was very badly prepped, the cars come covered in like a shrink wrap and then cleaned, the reason why my OH didnt want ours done before delivery, he is a car valeter and sees everyday cars in the same condition as yours. This is also the reason we went for white.

That is interesting to know it comes in a shrink wrap. Like you say i just think someone who is not professional at their job has washed it it over poorly, most probaly with fine grit in the sponge or washmitt.
