jeebowhite
holy cack! I have to say if my dealer says it needs something doing to it I tend to say "thanks for letting me know" then I go for a second opinion. and if it does need doing, I source the cheapest supplier and fitter for decent products, or I would do it myself if its not a major refit! Sadly they have taken you for a mug! Why on the service would they need to replace the door roller and ball? for that matter, unless the brakes would fail an MOT (which unless they did one, they cannot claim it did!) then they should not have pressured you to saying that everything needs doing! Out of those I would say: charged extra for Element at £9 and Castrol Formula F x 7 at £8 each total £49 - I presume this is the bottles of oil, but whats the "element"? oil Leak, £40 charge to find leak, steam clean engine bay and re-tighten rocker cover. - Fair game Supply and fit rear brake disc £240 plus disc break £54 x 2 total £90 - Why? what was wrong with the other brakes? did they tell you it was dangerous? did it fail an MOT? I suspect they just chanced it! I got told ages ago that my brakes where "unhealthy" (on the CMAX) as the lip was slightly corroded, but it flew through the Ford MOT. Supply and fit rear hub seals £147.85 plus seal at £35 - Kit Bolt £5 holy christ! 3 tyres (not given a choose) at £77 each - What was the tread on the old ones? never the less, if they were illegal or close to it you would struggle to get them that much cheaper I suspect. Kit - Break Lin £42.50 - Why did they need to change the brake line? Supply and fit side door middle roller £40 - Roller Assy £29 - Again, why? if the door opened and you didnt ask them to look at it, they shouldnt have asked you to do it? Fuel Element - £23.05 - Did they add something like BG244 without asking you? Reset EGM and PCM and service function £65 - If the engine light is on this is due to the diagnostics fee. Never the less, you didnt need to pay it, it didnt fail an MOT and if you didnt ask them to do it... Its always scary when you get that call, your unprepared, and unaware. Sadly you can be jumped into doing it especially when its your livelyhood. The way I look at it... would you have lost £1600 if you took it away without all that cack being done and had to lose a days trade to get the van fixed up elsewhere? you could have easily had all that done for half the price. Sadly its a lesson hard learned, I think you would struggle to get your money back, and I think you may need to put this down to experience.
