1.0 Ecoboost Rattle Under Acceleration

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I have a 2013 Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost 125ps, with around 12200km on the clocks. Just recently it developed a severe rattle noise under acceleration. It was a minor sound about a month ago but since last week when I had it on the dyno, it started really sounding bad. The engine sounds really good at idle and normal driving speeds but if I stab the throttle it rattles like bad (sounds like a plate or something metallically vibrating when loose). Do you guys have similar problems or I am I the only one who has? Spoke to Ford SA and they can't give me a answer, they want me to book in the car so they can inspect it.

I would appreciate the help

Thanks

It's more than likely the turbo heat shield, had a few people with problems on here with the same thing.

Thanks Nathan

Will have a look at it in the morning, hopefully nothing too serious

No problem

It's held in place with metal rivets and a few bolts, check there all tight and secure. Obviously when cold as these get really hot really quick.

Everything seems to be good, nothing loose in the engine bay. The noise seems to appear somewhere between the engine bay and the cabin. Maybe a panel or something that came loose.

See if you can find the Thread about noisy fuel pumps on this engine in this Forum.

Did you get any success with this issue, I have a similar problem and my local Main Dealer is unable to resolve it! New Cat fitted 4 months ago, but all heat shields are tight and not the cause apparently- significantly quieter once the engine is hot but terrible when cold and accelerating away?
