Escort Van 1.8D Wiring Help Please

hi I have a 1998 escort 1.8d van when I turn the ignition on the fuel gauge reads full but its empty I turn the side lights on and dip beam comes on and when I put dip beam on the side lights come on all the electrics was fine till I tried to sort the radio wiring out to fit a standard ford radio as I got the van with no radio I have took the radio back out as it was when all the lights worked as they should and they still playing up any ideas ?

    Sounds to me like you have a cracking short circuit going on there!

    Your going to need a wiring diagram at best. I would start by checking all the earth points are clean and making a good connection.

    Managed to sort it the thick green and black wire to the radio put that to the body everything works how it was before so I just left that on the body and put the smaller green and black to radio
