Esp Issues

Featured Replies

I have a 2009 reg fiesta 1.6 zetec s. 50k

Im having issues with my ESP, for example yesterday I was driving along a straight rd at 45-50mph and accelerated normally and the esp light was flashing and power was cut, it was a sunny day, road was dry . This has happened a few times before.

This morning on the way to work the same happened again and on every bend for the first 8 miles, again dry road, normal speed/driving.

Tyres very worn or cheap new ones? I had this with cheap new tyres (sunnys I think) which made the ESP flash up every time you pushed it, however I had the Focus ST at the time ;)

tyres seem ok (bridgestones) i wasnt pushing it either. maybe its aa sensor somewhere going wrong as it doesnt do it all the time

Definitely be a speed sensor related issue. Have you been through any automated car washes at all?

No ive not been thru any. It will be fine for days/weeks and then start doing it again

is the speed sensor expensive/ easy to do?

It'll be cheap from a breakers, used a pressure washer at all? might have had a blast get through the wheel arch or something

Thanks

where abouts is it located?

Not washed my car (with hose pipe ) for 2 weeks, just yesterday put the blue it started playing up and this morning and then it was fine  . Its been dry weather too, not sure if its related to a random message that some times comes up upon starting sometimes saying 'BRAKE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION STOP SAFELY' this was checked a while back and brakes were fine.

Abs sensor ring.

Have fun, Once they pop they just don't stop.

Got your VXR yet Sheriff?

Abs sensor ring.

would this be related to a worn wheel bearing too?

would this be related to a worn wheel bearing too?

Had the exact same issue with my current car, NSF wheel bearing was on its way out (and Hub).. Under acceleration and breaking the abs light would come + stay on.. Got a bit scary when I was driving back from the mrs' and went to brake going over a few pot holes *trying to avoid them* Car didn't want to stop, wheels kept rolling

I'd take it to get checked out if you haven't already.. I got my Bearing + Hub changed Inc. Labour + VAT for £120. Would have done myself but didn't want to risk ruining the new bearings trying to bash them in :P

Matt I'll start a new thread with pics later ;)
