Rear Parking Sensors Question?

Featured Replies

Alright Guys

Today is my very day of owning a Ford Fiesta.. It's a 2011 Zetec Version which has got rear parking sensors on it which is confusing me at moment with all the beeping noises that it does make..

How can you tell if you are getting too close to something? The beeping noise as far as I can tell starts way off before you are close to anything

The closer you get to something the quicker the beeps get till there is a continuos tone, reverse upto something till it's continuos then get out and see how close you are for a reference.

do we need rear parking sensors on a fiesta or is it something else for the dealer can extract more money from us. I am being offered them on a 64 plate st3

We don't need them but considering the cost of repairing just a small scrape it was worth £200 for me. Well I didn't really pay that cos I just got a big discount on a fully specced car.

Ive had them on several fiesta's and now confident I don't need them on my current ST. Plus they ruin the smooth look of the rear bumper

That's true about the bumper, it's the only thing I don't like about them. It would be better if Ford make them less noticeable like on some cars where it's just a little circle that doesn't stick out.

Id quite like them on the back of mine if it could be fitted to factory spec. Though would depend on cost of course

When I bought my ST2 last year factory parking sensors weren't available so I had the x-vision sensors fitted by the dealer before collection. They fit flush with the bumper and were hardly noticeable. They rrp at £349 fitted

For my ST3 I went for the factory sensors, I don't mind how they look too much and the park pilot display is useful. I'd think they are useful, accidents happen and they look better than scratches and dents.

Someone on STOC ignored the bleeps on his, even though they were continuos and drove into a concrete pillar in a car park lol

Yes that was me and it's gonna cost 216 to put right, by the way I didn't ignore the sensors I stupidly thought I was further away cos I was looking at the wrong pillar trying to work out why my reverse sensors were bleeping merrily away yet the obstruction in my wing mirror seemed miles away , sounds crazy but it all happened in a split second but yes go for reverse sensors and trust in them but still look in your mirrors properly I certainly will be ah well lesson learnt

To be fair the 216 is cheaper than the sensors. Well unless you do it more than once.

Oh it wont happen again

Up graded from 13 st to a 64 st3, have gone with the smooth looking bumper, No sensors  so looking forward to friday. delivery day :D :D :D
