P000A Fault Code - What Next?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

A bit of history might help here:-

My 2006 Focus 1.6 VVT has been a hole in my pocket sine I bought it last year and I've spent a fortune on repairs. Last March after the cars MOT and Service, the next day I drove up to Aberdeen and the engine management light came on after 50 miles or so. I went back to the garage who did a diagnostics test and said it was a fault code to do with the camshaft (which I now assume was code P000A). They did a second oil change (the first being part of the service), wiped the code and off I went. The issue happened a further 3 times and I had enough of what seemed like excuses for a problem they couldn't diagnose.

So I called Ford... They did their own diagnostics and said they problem was with the VVT sensor which was unique to VVT engines. They replaced the sensor at the cost of £250 and the problem seemed to have disappeared. The car has been fine since that replacement sensor was fitted in April - no error codes, no jittering etc, but at the weekend I got the engine management light again. It came on as I was going down a slip road - the car almost jumped, as if it skipped a rev but then was fine (and has been fine for the couple of days since). When I checked the code myself it's coming up as P000A. A quick search online has a few folk saying this has happened after an oil change (which was the case when I first got the code in March), but nothing has changed since Ford change the VVT sensor.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be or have any pointers on what to check next?

Any help much appreciated!

theres 2 sensors if its the 115bhp version 1 if its the 100bhp so if only one was changed then perhaps the other has gone had no issues after oil changes mate on mine if it persists its the ti vct cam that needs replaced

Poor oil quality / Poor oil pressure.
Incorrect cam timing.
Faulty VCT solenoid.
Faulty CMP sensor.
Faulty VCT.
